Our Interior Design students are working for their Assignment on a Residential Project in Indonesia in the Island of Bali and in order to learn more about Tropical Architecture and Sustainable Interior Design, they met in Conference Call two architects from Studio Jencquel in Bali, Ms. Maike Hunds and Ms. Irfie Santoso. The lecture has been very inspiring since they shared with our students their methodology in terms of project identity and sourcing of local materials. They explained how it is important to know the weather impacts when you are doing Tropical Design. "To preserve a sense of harmony between the physical and social elements of the world around us, Studio Jencquel gets inside a personal journey with each component of the creation process. Through adaptive and sustainable design approaches, Studio Jencquel seeks a richness of meaning and unique emotional connection with material and physical structures”.
We enjoyed all the shown projects of Studio Jencquel and during this journey into the Tropical Interior Design we are learning how to “live” the nature and how being sustainable using local materials. Thank you to our guests for sharing their insights and experiences. In Raffles be believe that there are no boundaries when we talk about design and even we are living in different countries we can always create a community of designers.
